Palmwood is a fast-growing resource for the Vietnamese woodworkers. The disadvantage is that it curves quite quickly. With a special design Piet Hein Eek solves this problem. Both the baskets and bowls have been built by thin slats that have been bound together. In this way they can shrink and swell as much as they want but the product will remain the same. The woodworkers ask advice from the fishermen in order to get the strongest knots and toughest thread.
